I purchased one of these and have used it several times in practice and on calls. A Captain at my department also has one that he has owned for several years. These take the advantage of the rex tool and mix it with the tool you normally will grab to force a door. This tool has performed very well for me and does very minimal damage to doors on EMS calls. Anyone can open a door if they hit it a bunch, but if you do your part in learning and apply this tool you can make the job easier. Why be winded before you even got inside to do the actual work?

This is a sturdy tool that we have only been able to train with so far pulling locks and forcing training ""doors"". Yet to use it in the ""real world"". I can tell that it will hold up - as long as you understand the limits. The rex head replaces the Adz end, therefore, it is not and Adz. Remember, if you plan to gap a door with the rex, you best maintain the load on both tips, or you MIGHT bend it. We have one that happened to. Again, great tool, just takes some training.

I read the other review of this tool, and I can only say that anyone who breaks it first try or can't pull a lock with it (I thought it bent first try??), needs some more training. I've pulled every kind of lock with this tool in either training or on real calls....commercial and residential grade bored locks, mortise locks, and rim locks. I think it's every bit as good as the standard Rex tool, and better than the Rex for pulling tubular deadbolts. It's harder steel, so a bit lighter than the PB (if that matters to you). I like the squared shoulders on the fork and the thinned out adz especially. I've conventionally forced at least twenty real commercial doors with either the adz or the fork, and mine's still in great shape. The only thing I didn't care for was the rubber grip, it was too thick for me....but it was very easily removed with a utility knife. Very satisfied, part of my personal irons.

Poor imitation of the pro bar. I bent the adz end on the first outward steel door I tried it on. After the tool bent I Switched to a pro bar and it got me in with no problem.
